Ethiopian Artists to tour Africa
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia- the young Ethiopian singing sensation Tsedenia G/Markos along with Girma Yifrashewa are to tour eastern and southern Africa as well as the Indian Ocean with their splendid sounds.
The two artist’s will be performing close to ten new musical pieces from which four Ethiopian traditional beats, Ambasel, Tizeta, Anchihoye, and Bati are to be incorporated in a classic style. One song will feature the lyrics of the famous Ethiopian poet Getenet Eneyew, ‘Africa is one’.
Mr. Lucian roux, Director of the Alliance Ethio-Francaise, in a press conference explained that it is very rare for the organization to sponsor the same person twice, but the marvelous combination of the two artists gave occasion for Girma Yifrashewa to be awarded a second tour.
Yifrashewa and G/Markos both said that this kind of opportunity gives artists a chance to promote their country other than promoting themselves. The artists, who have been rehearsing for over a month, told media that the use of an international instrument, the piano, to play traditional music is something that makes the performance new and appealing to both the Ethiopian as well as the international audience.
During the performance the artists will be wearing Ethiopian designs created by Zami Yenus. The tour will start around the end of this month and will run to the end of April. The two will wrap-up the tour with a performance in Addis Ababa as the final stop on the tour Alliance told media.
The artists are going to perform in Djbouti, Seychelles, South Africa, Pretoria, Port Elizabeth, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Maputo, Uganda, Burundi, Bujumbura and Malawi as well as Ethiopia.
